Christmas Eve. An idyllic family atmosphere. For some, a time of peace and joy. For others, a time of anxiety and frustration. Young theater makers from the Polish Instytut Kultury Miejskiej explore the concept of traditions in their performance Holy. Family and attempt to find an answer to the question of whether the “form” of traditional holidays, cultivated over the years, truly corresponds to the real needs of people.
Shared moments at the table with family can take a serious turn. Sometimes to the point where you feel like disappearing or even flying off into space. Little astronauts joined the Independent Theater Ensemble Odivo on an adventurous journey to a distant unknown planet in their performance Cosmos. Through touch and juggling, they explored the cycle of events, a world in constant motion.
Some relationships, however, we cannot escape even in another galaxy. Édouard Louis’ novel Who Killed My Father? in the interpretation of FÜGE Productions – ESZME Productions portrays the complicated relationship between the author and his father through fragments of memories: their mutual struggles, the battles for each other, for understanding and accepting the other.
It’s not only people who can connect, but also artistic or musical styles. DJ Spinhandz has been active on the Slovak hip-hop scene for over 20 years, focusing mainly on mixing music using two turntables. Have you heard of the Duck with a Tiger’s Head? Or the Iguana with a Monkey’s Head? These two mixtapes of his are a crazy cocktail of his own mashups, movie world collages, beat productions, scratching, and exclusive storytelling.
